Matt Murphy has worked in film since his teens, and in his early twenties was recognised at NZ Film and Television awards for contributions in Art Direction. Soon after, Matt embraced an opportunity to direct TV commercials and was selected in the Top 10 New Commercials Directors in the World Showcase at the Cannes Advertising Festival.  

Matt has honed his skillset on over 120 local and global campaigns for high profile clients such as Visa International (starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Pierce Brosnan, Zhang Ziyi & Vichai Jongprasitporn), BMW, Lexus, Pernod Ricard and Chevrolet to name a few.  He has helmed commercials on location in India, Thailand, France, Malaysia, Italy, Japan, Hungary, Czech Republic, Buenos Aires, Canada, the UK, the USA, Puerto Rico and extensively in Australia and New Zealand. Awards include wins at D&AD, New York Festivals, ATV, & AXIS.

In 2016, Matt wrote and directed the feature film Pork Pie, released by Studiocanal, produced in association with Four Knights Film, Southern Light Films and the NZ Film Commission.
